Privacy policy
The Safe Start-Up is sold by Meg Asia Limited, a Hong Kong company (Business Registration No. 59582136) and part of the Meg group. This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, buy or use the course, or book a consultation, and how we look after it.
What we collect
- Account and purchase: your name, email, username and order details. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Course use: your progress, quiz answers and anything you submit in the course, such as your business idea.
- Consultations: your name, email, the time you book and anything you tell us to prepare. Bookings run through Calendly and sessions through Zoom.
- Contact: what you send us through the contact form or by email.
- Website use: pages visited, the ad or link you came from, device and browser type, and cookies (see below).
How we use it
- To create your account, give you access to the course and save your progress.
- To process purchases, consultations and refunds.
- To send emails about your account and purchases, and occasional updates about the course. You can unsubscribe from updates at any time.
- To answer enquiries and improve the website and course.
- To keep the website secure, including blocking fake sign-ups.
- To measure our advertising, as explained below.
Cookies and advertising
This website uses login cookies so you stay signed in, Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and the Meta Pixel to measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel set cookies and share limited information about your visit with Google and Meta. We don’t sell personal information. You can block these cookies in your browser.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run The Safe Start-Up, and only what they need: Stripe (payments), Calendly and Zoom (consultations), Google (email delivery and analytics), Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services (hosting and security), and Meta (ad measurement, website data only).
Where it is stored
Meg Asia Limited is based in Hong Kong. This website runs on servers hosted by Amazon Web Services and served through Cloudflare’s global network. Members of the Meg group in other countries help run it. Some of our service providers store information in the United States and other countries. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it.
How long we keep it
We keep account and course data while your account is open and delete it within 30 days of a deletion request. We keep order records as long as tax law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and unsubscribe from emails at any time. Meg Asia Limited is the data user responsible for your information, and we handle it in line with Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486). Under that Ordinance you can ask for a copy of your data (a data access request) and ask us to correct it, and we will respond within 40 days. We may charge a fee that is not excessive for a data access request. We won’t use your data for direct marketing without your consent, and you can opt out at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under other laws, such as US state privacy laws or the GDPR.
