The Safe Start-Up

Terms of sale and use

Last updated: 6 November 2026.

In short: you’re buying lifetime access to an online course for your own use; you can get a full refund within 3 days of paying; the course is education, not business, legal, tax or financial advice; and Hong Kong law applies.

1. Who we are

The Safe Start-Up is an online course sold by Meg Asia Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (Business Registration No. 59582136), of Room 806, Capitol Centre, 5–19 Jardine’s Bazaar, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong (“we”, “us”). Meg Asia Limited is part of the Meg group. These terms form the agreement between you and us when you create an account, buy, book a consultation or use the course.

2. Who can buy

You must be 18 or over to buy or create an account.

3. What you are buying

The course: access for one person to the lessons, weekend worksheets and AI prompts in The Safe Start-Up. “Lifetime access” means access for as long as we offer the course. If we ever stop offering it, we will give you at least 60 days’ notice so you can finish or save your work.

Consultations: one-on-one video sessions with the founders, booked and paid for separately through our booking page. Sessions can be rescheduled using the link in your confirmation email.

Access is for your personal use. Don’t share your login; teams or organisations should contact us for a group licence.

4. Prices and offers

Prices are shown in US dollars unless the checkout shows otherwise, and include any taxes we are required to charge. Promotional prices, such as our Black Friday price, apply only during the dates shown and to purchases made in that period.

5. Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Your card provider may charge currency conversion or international transaction fees. Your card statement will show a charge from Meg Asia Limited or the descriptor shown at checkout.

6. Refunds

You can get a full refund on the course if you ask within 3 days of paying. Consultations can be refunded if you cancel at least 24 hours before the session. Email [email protected] from the address you used to pay. Refunds go back to the original card, usually within 5–10 business days. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Your account

Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.

8. Acceptable use

Don’t copy, share, resell, record or publish course materials, or give others access to them. Don’t upload anything unlawful or that infringes someone else’s rights, and don’t try to break, scrape or reverse engineer the website. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If we close an account for a serious or repeated breach, we won’t refund it.

9. Educational content only

The Safe Start-Up is general education based on our own experience. It is not business, investment, financial, tax, legal or employment advice, and it can’t guarantee that your business will succeed or earn any particular amount. Before you act, get advice that fits your situation, including on business structure, tax, registrations, insurance and your current employment contract (for example, conflict of interest, intellectual property and outside-work clauses). You are responsible for the decisions you make and the risks you take.

10. AI tools

The course suggests prompts you can use in third-party AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Those tools are run by other companies under their own terms. AI output can be wrong or incomplete, so check it before you rely on it, and never paste your employer’s confidential information into them.

11. Intellectual property

We, or our licensors, own all rights in the course and its materials. We give you a limited, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning. Your business ideas and the work you create stay yours.

12. Changes to the course

We keep improving the course, so lessons, worksheets and features may change. We won’t make changes that significantly reduce what you paid for.

13. Availability

We aim to keep the course available at all times but can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may pause it for maintenance and will try to give notice.

14. Our liability

We provide the course and consultations with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or decisions you make based on course content or a consultation, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies, including the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71) and the Supply of Services (Implied Terms) Ordinance (Cap. 457) of Hong Kong.

15. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. Refunds after the refund window in section 6 are at our discretion, except where the law requires them.

16. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains how we collect and use personal information under Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change affects you materially, we’ll email you before it takes effect. The version that applied when you paid continues to cover that purchase, unless the change is required by law.

18. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. If a dispute arises, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. Otherwise, the courts of Hong Kong have non-exclusive jurisdiction, which means you may also be able to bring a claim in the courts where you live. No one other than you and us has rights under these terms, and the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623) does not apply.

19. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours to another Meg group company, and will tell you if we do.
